In & out all day long...

As many of you already know Faith has been wearing her hearing aids since she was 10wks old. It became a part of her routine everyday that they were put on in the morning when dressed and removed at night before bedtime or occasionally during the day for certain reasons like feeding or swimming. Every appointment we went to we were asked if she was tolerating them and we always said that she wasn't fazed by them. The only issue we had was stopping them falling off so we were recommended the headbands which are fantastic in keeping them in the right position.

Now Faith is 9 mths and she has gone from being a constant wearer to one who hardly wears them much to my dismay. I have tried everything but nothing is working...she constantly pulls at her ears, rips them out within minutes of me putting them back in! We have had some scary moments were she has managed to get the ear mould into her mouth and choked. I have to watch her like a hawk and if we are in the car she can no longer wear them as its not safe. I keep being told to perservere but its becoming a joke and taking over our daily life!! One day I tried counting how many times she removed them and of me to put them back on... I got to 48 times in one morning and gave up counting!!! She is a stubborn wee monkey...I'm not sure if its just her age or if she genuinely doesn't like the feeling of them. Every time I put them back in only for her to take them out I kept thinking of the hokey cokey song for some reason as it feels like I am doing that dance every single minute of the day! If the song was to be related to our day it would go like this :

Put your left hand on
Put your left hand off
Put your left hand on
And take it all out
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about

Now put your right hand on
Put your right hand off
Put your right hand on
And take it all out
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about
That's what its all about

You put your head down
You put your head up
You put your head down
And shake it all about
Do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about
That's what its all about

Let's do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
That's what its all about

Now put your mould in
Put your mould out
Put your mould in
And chew it all around
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about

Pull on your hearing aid
Pull on your headband
Pull on your hearing aid again
And taste it all over
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about
That's what its all about

You throw your aids down
You throw your aids up
You throw your aids down
And laugh about it
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about

Let's do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
That's what its all about!

You watch me sign "no"
No no no no no
You watch me sign "no"
And give me a big smile
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about

I bend to pick them up
I stand up and look
I bend to pick them up
And your eyes follow me
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about
That's what its all about

On your ears they go
This way, that way
On your ears they go
And you give me a frown
You do the wiggly dance
And shake yourself about
That's what its all about.

Lets do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
Let's do the wiggly dance
That's what its all about!

Get those things of me!!

If anyone has any idea on how to get her to tolerate them I would be eternally grateful if you shared it with me!!

  1. This is only a wild stab but have you though about wearing a headband for a bit to see if she will copy you.Maybe just leave the headband without the hearing aid in front of her and let her play with it ??? Good Luck #postsfromtheheart
